SHE PWR 2019

SHE PWR is back for this year’s International Women’s Day and there’s nowhere better to celebrate true female power. A collaboration between Gorilla and the Deaf Institute on Friday 8th March starting at 4pm and leading through to the early hours.

An awesome International Women’s Day celebration with an all female fronted line up across the sister venues will be an evening welcoming those of all genders, orientations and disabilities, for just £5. The purchase of the £5 ticket will grant guests with an Access All Areas wristband to gain entry into all event spaces across both venues, with all profits going to Manchester Action on Street Health (MASH).

Gorilla will be holding live music from female musicians and a live Q&A in their studio (wristband required) hosted by DJ and Presenter, Hattie Pearson. Pearson will be joined again by a panel of inspirational women from in and around Manchester; discussing their careers, the challenges they face and the future of women in business. Gorilla club will then be hosting an All-Female Makers Market showcasing independent freelance female artists and their work (free, no wristband required) from jewellers to bakers, illustrators and florists – the market will have it all.

Just down Oxford Road, the Deaf Institute SHE PWR will host spoken word artist Elsie Hadgraft – Poet and feminist-based artist duo GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS who will be delivering screen printing workshops in the main bar (wristband required), to the soundtrack of and all female DJ line up throughout the evening from 4pm-11pm. Upstairs in the music hall (wristband required) will see a genre mash up of the best in Manchester’s forward-thinking female virtuous with the likes of ILL, Witch Fever, Current Mood Girl and Julia Bardo, a stellar line up from indie rock, grunge to electronica from 7pm to 10pm.

Lastly, the basement will be transformed into ‘Fat Out’s Late Night Karaoke Dungeon’ (wristband required) hosted by Marilyn Misandry and Louise Woodcock from 10pm to 3am. For this extra special occasion they will be celebrating all the badass females and their music, so head to the basement to get rowdy, sing your hearts out and celebrate the women who showed the boys how its really done.

This being a multi-room event, arrive early to guarantee entry into the event of your choice.
